Default Aftermarket Steering box spacer between box necessary??

Is the aftermarket spacer that replaces the thin aluminum one really necessary? I'm pulling my box back off to put a xj one on and I'm wondering how necessary the upgraded one is. Mine is not broke. If it is where is the best place to get one? Thanks

If yours stays on the pavement at all times then you're fine. Might as well upgrade if you're in there... Only around $40 or so

you can break the aluminum one with your hands. I've even bent a JCR one
for $40 might as well snag one. JCR is a great company. I'm sure they have a CF discount too

If you have the tools or know how, you can make one yourself for cheaper if you already have some metal laying around. I plan to make mine myself once I have the proper breaker fuse/wires to run my welder at my parents house.

Yep. Get an outside brace, like a bumper, then one that runs from the passenger side. I'm only on 33's and beat it hard, my unibody makes some funny noises...

for sure. I wanted to slug my frame rail at the steering box too. frame plates, stout bumper, and track bar brace are all very necessary

I cracked my frame and the spacer was intact and fine.

The park I just got home from definitely tests out all the articulation you have, where I cut off my short arm brackets made some noise at my feet as did the front.

Can't stress it enough, plate your unibody or get a DOM EXO cage.

Ok guys. Thanks. I will order one. I already have an aftermarket winch bumper that ties into the steering box.
