Default After market light on factory switch

I'm finally about to break down an take my front bumper modeling off for the extra clearance. I don't want the stock fog lights just hanging down there so they are coming off. I have some hella 500ff 55w lights sitting around that I've been putting off installing for a while. Can I use the factory wiring an switch on the hellas? Any information on color codes for the wires. Thanks in advanced.

You could, but I would only use the factory wiring as the Switching circuit for the relay that the lights would run off.

The factory fog lamp harness is already wired up with a relay. Go to great lakes XJ and download the FSM for your truck it has the wiring diagram in it for the fogs. From the switch the violet/white wire is your power, blk-ground, brown/white-to relay.

Yes, it is, but that entire circuit is way too light a gage wire for atermarket lighting. Use it ONLY to switch on ADD-ON relay which will supply the power to the new lights.

I used the factory wiring for a set of KC's, they've been on there for a few years now with zero problems. They also get used quite a bit.

My XJ also has a set of PIAA fogs running on the factory wiring and I use them everyday with no issues.
