Default Adding 3" AAL to 3" Leaf Pack

Just as the title says, I was wondering what would happen If I tried adding a 3" long add a leaf Into a new set of 3" leaf packs. I know everyone's going to say put a 1.5" shackle on and be done. My last shackle job turned Into a night mare so I'm trying to avoid that. And 1.5" block isn't so bad but I'd like to steer clear of that as well. Trying to accommodate my 4.5" RE coils coming in. Let the input flow.

Use shackle relocators adds about 1.5 inches and allows you to fine tune the rear suspension rough country makes a bolt in one if you can't weld

Might have to look into that. Last nightmare was the shackle bolt has the nut welded in the unibody pocket...a little snap crackle pop and u busted it. Don't wanna do it again haha

You should be fine if you keep it up and work the bolt out slowly back and forth

Lets hope! This xj is a pa native though so she's been through some winters. I'd still like to know if it's possible to throw an add a leaf into my 3" pack.

Thanks for the info, basically just curious if I'd gain any lift

Keep in mind, the more arch in the leaf spring, the rougher the ride.
And leaf packs that provide lift work best when coupled with a longer (than stock) shackle.
I have found new shackles (1" lift) for $40 per set, delivered. Let me know if you need a link to them..

You would probably gain some lift, and stiffen up the springs. Longer shackles and/or shackle relocation brackets would be ideal.

You will get more flex with shackles also, I recently went from a 3" lift to a 4 1/2" using new coils and a set of Boomerang Shackles 1 1/2" ones. I was surprised at the improved ride quality with them also along with the additional flex.

Overall I am very pleased with the added lift and the way I went about doing it. I might add this is a temporary setup next year I plan on going to a long arm kit. I would have no problems with suggesting this setup to anyone using a good leaf pack/coils, mine are from "Rustys Off Road" and all American made.

3" lift leafs + 3" AAL will likely = much stiffer 3" lift pack. You may get lift due to the higher spring rate and the weight of the vehicle not compressing the pack as much. As others have stated relocation boxes and shackles is a much better option. I use a pretty flat three leaf bastard pack with HDO relocation boxes and 5" RE(1" lift) shackles for roughly 4.5-5" and a decent ride. I would not put the AAL in the lift pack, I value my teeth and kidneys lol.

Thanks to all who gave input. I was just curious if anyone ever gave it a thought. Il just stick with the shackle then and keep fingers crossed. Thanks again
