98 jeep cherokee rear spring spacer block?
Looking for any info on a spacer block and longer U-bolts for the rear of my Cherokee... (1998)
lokking for a cheap way to raise the rear 2-3" to help with towing a small MC trailer...
I put on air shocks a few years ago... and that does the trick, but it rides like a tank.
I'd like to lift the rear with spacers and then put new shocks all around.
Is there a company that sells a kit ?
I have the ability to make the blocks and then just buy longer u-bolts, but due to no time in my life.... I'd rather just buy a kit.
thanks for any tips.

You can buy steel blocks most anywhere in heights up to 5" along with u bolts for them. You need to know what diff you have so you get the right u bolts.

Save your money for a while and forget the blocks they are a real POS.
Then buy a budget full leaf/coil package, do it right the first time not half-azzed.

DO NOT GET BLOCKS.
They may be cheap, but they will make your springs fail. Eventually they force the spring into a negative arch. After that if you put too much pressure on them they will shatter. Grab an extended shackle for the time being or just save for full spring packs.

New spring packs... I assume, re-arched or added leafs to raise the rear?
where is the best vender to buy these? Or just go to a spring shop? $$
all I see online are full lift kits...
I don't want to lift the jeep, just raise the rear a tad.

Well if you want things to stay STOCK you can get new packs from Old Man Emu. Best ever. Or get an AAL...but those sag eventually. However by that time you may want a lift. I believe shackles from an MJ will give an inch of lift.
New shocks will also give a little pep to your ride. Bilstein makes good sets. But if the springs are super worn the shocks will wear extremely fast since they will be holding the entire jeep up. Rustys sells individual parts I know for sure. Online vendors like rockridge4wd can set you up with the stuff you need plus free shipping.

I agree with you sir, they do not make height for the vehicle. I was just under the assumption that shocks would provide enough resistance all around to allow the spring to return to its original height.

Blocks are a nogo lord guru, you'll stress the ****e out of the leafs and it's just not proper. Save up for a new pack or go to a p&p and pull some s10 leafs.

Hey John, I think there's heaps of good advise and all say the same thing..... but something not mentioned yet..... lf you go 3 to 5" lift don't forget to look at SYE kit or Hack'n'tap for the rear output on the transfer case plus replace the old driveshaft with one that is similar to your front D.S.(has Double Cardin). This halves the angle on the transfer case end and fit degree shims to correct the diff pinion angle to stop vibration + increase the life of the uni joints
