97 xj 4.0 at. tuning options?
hello, i recently acquired a 97 xj 4.0 at. i am looking at tuning options for this engine/trans combo. the only options i'm seeing are a stand alone setup or some sort of handheld. anyone have any experience with the handheld deals? how good are they? worth the money? more or less i'm looking to make this thing as efficient as possible. i am planning simple intake/exhaust upgrades, no internal engine work.
i have a 99 ls1 car that i use hptuners on. i am no stranger to such. i was hoping i could find something similar for this jeep, but it's not looking good. i have a wideband etc to verify afr and it has a distributor so adjusting/verifying timing won't be an issue, either.
thanks in advance.

the distributor isn't adjustable. but yeah, a standalone system is about the only way you're gonna get any tunability out of this and unless you're building a stroker or at least doing some head work, it doesn't seem like you're gonna be able to get much out of it via tuning.

There are 2 guys that can tune the Jeep ECU and that's it.
Flyinryan at jeepstrokers.com via a handheld and email tunes and
Christuned at naxja.com but you send him your ecu.

let's hope this i6 motor doesn't grenade any time soon, i smell an lsx in this jeep's future.
