Default 96 to 98 xj doors.

Anybody have a idea of how to connect the old connectors onto the new door wiring. I have the connectors off the old doors and planned on wiring them up to the new doors and just plugging them in but the problem is knowing which wire goes where.

I’m not worried about the power mirrors though

I am also curious about WIRING
seems most everyone just ignores or monkeys it together ...
even youtube vids

ALSO need info on wiring up the Mirror & Heated Mirror wiring
--- Do I need to wire it to the rear hatch defrost/ defog?
Amps? *any Warnings?*

do I need timer? temp sensor?

2nd thought on door plugs -
- In past I've soldered together 2 plug sets (with power window fix) might do basically the same, that way it can go back ..?

* a "sure" way is to test each wire/socket with a test light, and switches in cabin, write function on tape, stick to wire

* power each "new" door wire with 12V, see what happens, tag wires

write it all down!

cut the old connectors (if incompatible) and make new joins with connectors of your choice

Ok, I found this on magazine website

(Link from older posting here, ...that I can't find right now...)

We got a pair of doors from a '97 Cherokee we found in the junkyard and bolted them up and wired them in our '92 Comanche for basically the purchase price of the doors: $100.

Bolting the doors up was the easy part. If you have even one good eye, a Sharpie, and a tape measure you can do it. We had to wrestle with the wiring though, not only because we were going from a '92 to a '97 setup, but because our MJ was manual doors, locks, windows and mirrors, and our donor was power everything and even had heated mirrors. So, follow along to see how to get the doors on the Jeep and wire them up while making your Jeep all kinds of better in the process.

Here is a list we've compiled from three different wiring diagrams and a bunch of time with our doors. Hopefully by giving you the color of the wire, what it is claimed to do, and what we did with it, you can figure out your wiring on your doors, if the wires happen to be a different color.

Okay I got the windows down. Now I’m wrestling with the locks. The on/wt wire used to feed the lock switch and the pk/vt wire was the unlock and on/vt was the lock. But I can’t figure out how to get them wires up to the switch. The new switch is a lot more complicated. Does anyone know which wires do what when it comes to the locks? Only wires I have left over excluding power mirrors is 2 pnk/blk one orn/blk and one orn/vlt and the orange and white wire on the driver side. Can’t get heads or tails of this thing
