88 Tranny, rebuild or replace?
So I have an 1988 Jeep Cherokee that I'm getting ready to put a Rubicon Express 5.5 long arm lift on, and rebuild with a stage 2 stroker kit. Already have all that. Before I rebuild and lift it, I want to know what I should do with the tranny. right now it has 230XXX miles on it. Because I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee XJ automatic, I have the AW4 tranny, right? With the horsepower I'm going to run in this thing should I just rebuild this tranny, or is it not worth it. Should I get a new tranny? What are some good transmisions out there that are
"bulletproof" and badass? I have a bunch of other work I'll be doing to it too that will add weight.
Any other forums you can recommend me to with a jeep tranny expert as well? Just trying to get as much information from different people as possible before I decide.

get a junkyard one with low miles. AW4s arent the best to really rebuild from what i've heard.

my stroker made mince meat of my 5 speed. fortunately the automatic is stronger.
Because you are planning on more power than stock, I would go for rebuilt just because if you do it yourself or get it done, you can have some of the weak parts upgraded.
Or, you can drive your till is goes and chance it on a used one.
