8.8 is roughly 2" narrower if you're talking about the Explorer version, F150 is 6" wider. If you have a 8.25 now stick with it the 8.8 isn't that much stronger. You can run 35s on the 8.25 and 37s on the 8.8 but you'd need to swap the D30 for 37s so the 8.8 wouldn't help much since there aren't any axles with it's bolt pattern for the front that would hold 37s.

I just installed a 8.8 in mine last weekend and when u compare the front to the rear the rear sits in 1/2 on each side. So if I went with a 1/2 spacer u will be dam close back to where u started.
