8.8 spartan locker problem

8.8 spartan locker problem
I was installing my spartan ratcheting locker lastnight and I can not get the cross pin in due to the center caps not going over far enough. I noticed after the fact I didn't remove the shims from the spiders. Was that something that I needed to do? Also this thing is a pain to get back apart with the springs and having 4.56 gears in the way on the one side.

Yes the shims need to come out. I did the same thing noticed after I put the c clips in. I used brake cleaner with a straw to get them back out after trying for over an hour making tools.
