Default 8.25 w/ 4.10s running 35s, dumb idea ?

im stuck with re-gearing..too many options and dont have sufficient funds. ive looked at all the gearing charts and have done the ratio equations, just wondering if anyone acutally runs 8.25 w/ 4.10s and 35s? this is my daily driver, but re-gearing is expensive(and dont trust myself with pinions and shims) and i have found a 4cyl xj with 4.10s for a good price. what do yall think ? need some input -thanks

Get the 4.56 gears for those 35s. Didn't the 4 bangers only come with the D35? Don't downgrade your axles! Make sure to do both axles or you'll tear out your gears.

If you are not confident doing it yourself, bite the bullet and have someone else do it.

I don't know how heavy your foot is, but I wouldn't run 35s locked on a stock d30, at least get chromos.

a buddy of mine told me bout the axles, im pretty sure he knows his stuff and he told me 30 up front and 8.25 in the rear..he could be wrong ill find out when i acutally see the axle. thanks for the input on that, never thought it could be a d35.

also NorCalJeep, i dont have money or the knowledge to re-gear..thats why i was going to just go with 4.10s, id love to have 4.56s or 4.88s

Consider a rear ford 8.8 swap and maybe d44 front?

id love to, but then id be about the same place im at now, except for the 44 thatd be nice, since the 8.8 is bout the same strength as a 8.25. i havent found a good price on an 8.8 that blew me away yet to make it worth it. the deal i found was front 30 w/ 4.10s and rear 8.25 w/4.10s out of a cherokee..so bolt right in

hold the phone. 8.8 is the biggest and beefiest of all those axles. I have to agree 8.8 swap is your best bet for 4.10's. and you even get a limited slip out of the deal. also I agree with OD. I'd leave the shafts stock in the D30. 1. chromos are too much coin for a turdy. 2. I'd rather replace shafts all day than ujoints, ring, or carrier.

you have the ax15 correct? have you ever just considered staying with 33's?

First off I'm also going to say.... I still have 3.55's and daily and wheel the crap out of my jeep. Why make such a huge fuss about swapping gears to a not too noticeable 4.10's. not worth the effort.
