What will I need to rebuild and go clear through my axle and install a limited slip?

What kind of limited slip are we talking about?

Normally you do bearings and seals. Have you replaced diff bearings in an axle before?

Master install kit will have all your bearings and shims plus I'd replace the axle bearings and seals in the tubes if you're wanting it to be like new. And if you don't have the tools to set up a ring and pinion, all those and the knowledge to do it.

If you're going to get that deep into it, skip the LSD and get a locker instead. You'll be oh so glad you did.

You'll need:
New Ring and Pinion
Master install kit
LSD/Locker

5qt's of the least expensive house brand gear oil you can find.
Why 5?
Cuz you're going to pop the cover off after 250 or so miles and inspect everything, then you'll button it back up and refill it.

not doing a locker. Limited slip is by far the way to go considering I'd rather not chew up tires.

You're confusing a locker with a spool.

no? A locker will chew up tires. Both tires are moving at the same amount of revolutions at the same time. As a DR, taking corners will eat tires quickly.

That's a spool or some cheap lunchboxes. A real locker is selectable and functions like an open diff until you press a button.

Lunchbox and fullcase auto lockers will differentiate (unlock) in a turn as long as you aren't on the gas.

Selectables are open until you engage them from the cab (Mechanical, electrical, or cable)

Spools or Lincoln Lockers keep the axle shafts locked together at all times....and that is not something you want to run on the street if you are at all concerned with tire life.

Well there are only a few available for the 8.25"
ARB
Detroit
Lock-Right

Aussie and Lokka are popular because of their low cost, but they are loud.

If it was my rig and it was DD/trail rig, I'd go with the ARB.
