8.25 axle shafts
98 Cherokee 4.0 auto 231 currently has lunchbox in rear with Yukon shafts
4.56 gears and two busted teeth...figured on keeping the Yukon shafts as spares but I would rather just start over with all new parts and know for sure what is there and condition of all parts.
Need opinions on which set up to go with
Ten factory shafts with Motive gears 4.56 or...
Revolution shafts with Revolution gears 4.56...
will also be picking up a Detroit locker!!
Considered Alloy shafts but it seems as they are the most expensive and made with the same materials as the Revolution and Ten shafts.
Ten shafts are made by motive and obviously Revolution shafts and gears are made by the same company so I am thinking that keeping the shafts and gears the same make would be a better idea then mixing between brands.

I have a stock 29 spline 8.25 in mine with Motive 4.56 gears and Detroit Lockers in both. I run 33's and 35's on 2 sets of rims depending on where I going. Mine is not a "Crawler" but HD trail use in the Ozark Mountains, forests, mud and all in between some where I make my own trails.
So far have never broken a stock 29 spline axle with the Detroit but do carry a spare for rear and fronts. I'm going on 2 yrs. now on mine but have used Motive gears in race cars for a long time with no issues. JMO but I would rather break an axle than a set of gears any day cheaper and easier to replace even on the trail. I would blame this on your lunchbox as far as the breakage.

Yeap, 29 spline stock 8.25 shafts are plenty strong. I know a guy who has 4.56 gears, ARB lockers, 33s & stock stock shafts. He has wheeled this configuration for the 4.5 year's I've known him. The guy uses plenty of skinny pedal & has never broken a 8.25 axle shaft.

Fred,
I think the lunchbox had something to do with the breakage hence the Detroit but I bought the Cherokee with the issue...didn't know but after I parked it in the garage noticed gear oil leaking from diff so figured I would pop the cover off and reseal and the two busted teeth were looking right at me and no pieces in diff or oil...scumbag seller!!
I have no stock shafts and could go to a pick n pull but just figured while I'm in there might as well just put new shafts in there and know the condition!!
Anyone have any experience with Revolution gears and shafts?
I have no issues with Motive and they seem to be of very good quality from others reviews just trying to only having to pay once for the rebuild..thanks guys appreciate the help!!

Do you know where they are made at? Lots of things coming from China and I know the quality of the Motive gears. I hit them a lot in a Ford 9" with a 1000+ HP on a transbrake and never broke one.
I can't answer your question on the other ones. But like David I use stock shafts in mine and spares from a JY.
