784 ????
I just swapped a set of 784 injectors into my 99 xj and it looks like there's a gap between the block and the injector. My question is is this normal? The fuel rail is in as far as it can go and I haven't had any leaks coming from the injectors. Heres a pics. I'm worried about dirt or grime getting in there

No o-rings where left in there. I made sure of that and triple checked just to be safe. Thanks for the replies guys. I had never done an injector swap before so I wasn't sure if that was right or not and just wanted a second opinion.

cause a 784=703 but with EV6 different electrical connector. Some Xj's from 99 came with ev6 injectors.
looks alright.
Dude got a vacuum cleaner? I would be worried about crap getting in there as well, no way I would have pulled the old injectors will all that loose dirt/ crap around the holes.
But it is not my heap it is yours,
good luck with it.

784 and 703 are the same injector just with different electrical plugs as rainman mentioned (Except 98 is the cutoff year where you can find some both ways) 702s are similar in performance to the Ford "yellow stick" 710s and put out less fuel. I agree about the clean up part. Can hardly tell that's aluminum you are looking at!

Yea I forgot to clean the engine bay when I swapped them. I made sure to clean holes and scrape any dirt out. Everything is running fine with no problems. I appreciate all the help guys

I answered this in a PM but just for future reference this particular data sheet has a typo showing the same data for the 702 and 703. If you want to confirm that just ohm test one of each and you will see the difference in them where this data sheet shows they are the same.

I guess it might have helped if I put the ohm stats in LOL. As mentioned the "data sheet" shows them both being the same. If you test one of each you'll see the 703 tests at 12 ohms and the 702 tests at 16 ohms. That matches up with the correct cc/min as seen on these 2 pages:

OEM codes and fuel injectors
I have two codes that showed up on the gauge at 300 and 303. Both of them state that I could have faulty fuel injectors. Well since I have 142k on the clock and they probably never have been changed out, would a 742 injector work on a 1996 xj, 4x4, I-6?
I actually got codes 138 and 141 but those are for o2 and oxygen sensors.
Please help! I am getting really poor fuel mileage.
Thanks!
