7 inch or 8 inch wheel???
I have a 96 Cherokee. I installed a 2 inch budget lift (puck up front, extended shackles on rear) I installed brand new 235/75/15 BFG KO's prior to lift. They are setting on the factory 10 hole aluminum sport wheel. (6 inch I think).
I really want to widen my footpath without losing too much sidewall. Which width wheel should I go with? I don't want the wheel to take away all the sidewall from the wheel being too wide. I am considering, a 4 1/2 inch backspacing as well, on something like a soft 8 style wheel.
Please any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated. As long as any pics.
Thanks!

Trying to find 7 wide is gonna be a little harder than 8s. They do make em and that is the widest recommended for the 235(I will verify in a few hours at work). My suggestion is sell them and buy the next tire size up and go with 8 wide. You can put the 235s on 8s but it'll look kinda goofy and airing down at all will be out.

i agree with all above except... its not hard to find 15x7 rims. there are a respectable amount of options. I am in the same boat as you with my 235's. I am goin with 15x7 aswell, for the reasons stated above. i don't want my 235's looking to spread out. i don't do alot of wheeling so i set mine up for dd.
so look around u'll find alot of choices for 15x7 but even more for 8inch.
ebay. type in "jeep 15x7 rims"

Hmmm. Good point. I will need to divulge a little deeper in this. Every resource I have and saw shows these 10 holes to be 15x6... Anyone else know the answer?

my 96 came with 15x7, but theyre similar to BBS style webbed wheels and I have no idea if they were stock. The good news is with that tire you can run that on a stock wheel and not worry about rubbing. Also, definitely want a 7" wheel and not an 8", 8" is for 10"-12.5" wide tires (truck tires, not car tires).

Im running stock rims and the same size tyre as you and fitted 4x spidertrax 1.25" spacers....
Which brought the tyres out about 1/4 an inch inside the flares...
looks sweet for a skinny tyre and keeps the rubber off my control arms at full lock..

I have 5 black D window 15x7s I wanna get rid of if anyone is interested. My buddy is giving me a deal on some 33x12.5 KMs and I'd like to go with at least a 15x8.

Haha, I'm running 16x10 pro comp black steelie's. But my tires are also almost 13 inches wide so I guess I don't count. Get bigger tires bro and you'll open up a whole new world of rim sizes.

you can throw those 33x12.50's on a 15x7 rim it will actually help you not pop a bead when your aired down and will keep your tire taller when you are aired down...

So So wrong. With a rim that narrow you will have more of an issue keeping the bead on. Ask a tire shop or someone who use to work at one like me. Or a farmer like me. Your tire will stay taller when aired down until your try to clime something even a rut in the mud. You air down so your tire wraps around an object and in doing so loose some sidewall. This will happen no matter what rim size you have. You may not understand this but psi is psi. If you have a 31 and you air down to 8psi you will have a 29 on a rock If your rim is 7" or 10".

Tire taller or shorter is not going to make a difference when aired down, but you will be less likely to roll the bead off
