Exactly, you have a slip yoke. At that high of lift your driveline is at an increased angle. You will take out u joints quicker and most likely produce vibes. your driveline will also want to push UP into the t case instead of slide forward into the t case upon suspension comression; your tail cone will be prone to cracking as well as bending your main shaft and tearing transmission mounts. You need an SYE and a CV driveline with a slip in the middle. A front driveline will do. Sadly there isn't an actual SYE kit for the 242 so you will need to do a hack n tap.

Yes it is strong enough. And the front is best for the front. If it needs extended then you will have to have a shop retube it. What year is your XJ?

check out tattons driveshafts on ebay. an sye is ideal but if you cant do it yourself and dont want to pay somebody to do it you can get a slip yoke drivshaft with a CV joint from tattons for 275 shipped anywhere. ill have mine friday.
