Default 55 watt bulb to 100 watt bulb the same?

Short story I bought cheap roof rack lights from auto zone 55 watts. Then I wanted to upgrade the watts so I bought 100 watt bulb I took on of the off road lights apart put the 100 watt bulb in then turned it on and its the same exact brightness as the 55 watts. Do I have to re-wire bigger gauge? Thanks

You will need larger gauge wiring, you don't want start an electrical fire. Just because the bulbs are 100w that doesn't mean the wire can, as it is only gonna pull so much power. You also need to take into consideration the heat from 100w bulbs compared to 55w ones. If the housings are plastic 100w bulbs will melt them.

Also keep in mind that 100w isn't twice as bright as 50w... Two 50w lights will be brighter than one 100w. But one 100w should be brighter than one 50w.

Hella sells them as well as many other big lighting companies, but I got mine off ebay. They are 6000k and after a bunch of research I found out that the ebay ones have a life expectancy that is equal to the Hella ones. So why spend the extra money on a name brand that is going to last the same amount of time. I have had mine installed for 2 years now and still no issues. These are similar to the ones I bought:
