Default 5.2 in an xj

ok so before i get all of the "why a 5.2?" or "why not a 5.9"... i know a LS, 350, 5.0, or a 5.9 would be better, so if anybody feels like giving me any of these motors and all the adapters or drivetrain to make it work, feel free... but as of now my 4.0 isnt happy. at all....to the point where i have a dead cylinder, or almost dead, and so much blow by that the oil pours out of my air filter after driving it for any longer then 20 min....so on that note....does anybody have any experience swapping in a 5.2 and the trans out of a zj into a xj? also before you go saying stroke my 4.0...note that i can get a 96 zj with around 100k miles for 400$. again, stroking the 4.0 cost big bucks and my 4.0 needs to be bored out...not cheap. plus...i want a v8 under the hood. even though the 5.2 is a rather wimpy v8, still 225hp and 300 ftlbs stock...plus its much easier to make more power out of it then the 4.0.

so to not beat the dead horse, i said what i said because ive researched a bunch of threads where someone suggests it, and the only comments he gets back is "why the 5.2, why not a 5.9" or "the 5.2 sucks, stroke your 4.0" or comments of the sort. 5.2 is cheap, readily accessible, plenty of power for my needs and that trans will bolt right up to my np242.

now ive heard that the motor will just bolt right into the stock motor mounts. i dont know if i believe that or not. modifying the xmember isnt a problem, and neither is wiring the thing. i was just wondering if anybody has seen it/ helped with it/ or done it.

I have not seen it done, I want to. I would use everything you can from the doner ZJ.

After I saw this thread I did some googling, and found a few threads on naxja about the swap. They made it seem pretty easy just make sure you get the right parts should fit and everything, just google and see if you can find the write ups, if any from the people who already swapped.

Not to hijack the thread, but Levittown is only like 45 minutes from me, and I might be interested in the seats from that ZJ...

There simply isn't any aftermarket support for this swap.

I don't know why you bash a 5.2, they can make power... The make air gap EFI intakes, cams, etc for them. The biggest problem with the chryco v8's is the tq management in the ecm, have it reflashed and it makes a world of difference

Oh I'm not bashing the 5.2 at all. Everyone else does. What does to stand for again?
