4x4 transfer case
 
Is it possible to mod the transfer case so that when you have the 4x4 in low or hi it is in full time not part time like it is stock now.

well, as long as you keep it in 4x4 it's full time, but on an asymetric 4x4 system, it's bad for it to drive in 4x4 all the time, plus having it in 4x4 will make your front wheels bind when turning

my transfer case selector is 2x4,4x4 hi part time,4x4 hi full time, 4x4 low part time. what makes it part time? is it posible to make 4x4 low full time?

No. U can't have it full time. 4 lo is for offroad wheeling and should only be used part time not full time. That's my logic for why they r like that. The part time light comes on to tell u to take it out of 4 lo when your done with it. It doesn't mean your 4 lo is only on part time. When the light comes on your good to go.

you wouldn't want 4x4 low all the time, it would have absolutely no positive effects on your drivability

maybe I did not explain myself .When I am off road and I have it in 4 low what make the front axle live? axles are dana 30 front and dana 35 rear. :brickwall:

In part time your t-case has a 50/50 split for torque front and rear in full time you have a differential that splits the torque so you never get a true split. This is why full time, also know as all wheel drive, can be used on the street and part time can't.

I think what he is asking, is why on his transfercase shifter does it show 2wd, 4high part time, 4high full time, Neutral, 4 Low part time

:notworthy:thanks XJMARC that makes sense to me. so i need to check my front diff becouse i was pulling a stump out and only my rear diff seemed to be doing all the work,in 4x4 lo

Sounds more like you need to check the shifter on the t-case.

it's also very common for the vacuum lines or diaphragm on the central axle disconnect to fail, that's why my front axle doesnt engage, you can buy a cable operated kit for around 200, or build one for around 50
