Default 4x4 shifter

So very close with getting it all done (4x4 convert and new motor) but I have one problem. The 4x4 shifter I can't figure out where this peace goes, or the bottom of the peace I mean. I know it bolts to the body but where? Here a pic:

It looks like the area where you pull back your carpet it surrounds your shifter. If i go out to the jeep here soon ill snap a picture for you.

Is this the adjuster nut for the linkage?
