Default 4x4 conversion on a 2wd Manual 5 speed Xj

1999 jeep cherokee 2wd 4.0
I'm having trouble finding a manual transmission for a 4x4 xj. I have the front axle, I have tons of transfer case options out and about but have yet to find a 4x4 AX-15? Could I use a TJ manual transmission? If not, where could I find one or could I modify the 2wd tranny?

Advanced adaptors sells a complete conversion with brand new trans. Can also find reman ax15s on eBay for 700ish. You are going to need a lot of parts to make the swap happen. I recommend buying a complete vehicle to cannibalize all the parts you are going to need or just bite the bullet and get the kit from AA.

TJ will work. Also 4x4 dodge Dakota’s are the same.

What parts are needed besides the shifter, tranny, Transfer case and front drive shaft?

If you used a trans out of a TJ, just be sure to note that it will clock your transfer case up higher and you will need to "massage" the trans tunnel a bit so it doesnt rub.

Besides the parts you already listed, you will also need a rear driveshaft and the 4wd linkage (I have some stock linkage if you need it). You will also need to extend your VSS sensor.
