If I were to put a cable actuator going to my front axle to engage the 4 wheel drive will I lose 4 H and would I even use the lever to engage it

You must have a front axle disconnect... No that was for fuel mileage to stop and the stuff in the front from turning... You will lose nothing besides the fact you vacuum system may fail...

Do it the easy way. Your fuel mileage will not suffer. There is NO downside to doing it.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The factory did just that in 91+ XJs. No loss of MPGs and no more BS vacuum crap to deal with. There is NO downside to doing this.

One piece axle on the passenger side and eliminated that over-engineered bunch of monkey motion.

So the axle acts like hubs are locked in all the time? No disconnect at all?

Yes. Absolutely. The actual gain of having the disconnect or locking hubs is an absolute crock of ****.
