4 link suspension
i thinking about building my own 4link for the rear and possibly a 3 link in the front for my 98 XJ. definitely a long term goal. has anyone done something like this or have any suggestions?

Read through this build. Should give you some ideas. Also look around at companies that have rear coil conversions. Clayton has a nice one.

Yeah I like the setup Clayton has and have been looking at as many builds as I can to get my bearing. I know it will be a while before I get started on it

Every suspension on a full bodied XJ that does not run the link mounts through the floor is compromise on geometry , and every kit has this compromise , and yet work very well , So geometry needs not be perfect , and simply looking the the current designs offered and a quick read on things like link separation and link length will give you the basic understanding to build as good as you can buy , but it will be time consuming for a in-experienced fabber to do quickly ,which is why I bought my Clayton's as I had no time to build/install it . The single most expensive part on the suspension will be the joints which will run you $600-900 depending on the joints and type of link suspension you do then the cost of mnetal to build crossmembers and bracket your axles . If you want to short cut it you could buy the cross members and build the rest yourself .
