Default 4 Inch lift shocks with 3 Inch lift!?

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if 4 inch lift shocks would work on my 3 inch lift? (I might lift higher down the road) I'm assuming that 3 inch lift shocks would NOT work on a 4 inch lift because they would be too short, but in my case would the extra length of the shock hurt anything?

Thanks!

Just make sure your not going to be bottoming out the shock.

Ah I see, would that be the only side effect of running the lengthier shocks then?

Yea.
I run shocks for a 6-6.5 inch lift and only run 4.5 inches of lift. I have my jeep setup for less up travel and hella down-travel:

Depending on the company, will depend on what shocks they use in their kits. Saves money to use more of 1/2 type of shocks for multiple lifts than it does for many different shocks. The extra length should not affect anything other than possibly uptravel. Best thing to do with any sort of suspension mod is to flex it up/down to make sure nothing hits. With lifting you want to bumpstop accordingly anyways.
