4.88s for 33's
I'm about to regear. I have 33s, an automatic and wondering what you guys think of 4.88s for 33s. I know I'll go bigger eventually, just don't know if it'll be 6 months or 2 years but I want to do it right the first time. Thanks

I'm debating the same thing, I'm on 33's now, but plan on 35's in the near future. I'm leaning twords 4.88 vs 4.56's. It's only like 200 RPM difference.

just went through this 2 weeks ago lol you will never get a right answer some people will say 4.56 some will say 4.88, im also on 33s and ended up going with the 4.88s for the same reason as you, eventually i might go to 35s and honestly there is only about 200rpms difference between the 2 gear sets... heres a link to a great gear ratio calculator a member suggested to me it helped out alot in my decision, maybe it can help you to http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

60 mph...really? Am I really gonna be limited to slow *** speeds on the highway when I regear? It's more of a daily driver for now so should I stick with 4.56s? I need more info on highway driving please

I ran 4.88's with my 33's for about 6 months. I drive 70 miles round trip to work and back every day and 400 miles every other weekend on the Interstate. I could easily go 75 without the RPM's being too ridiculous. If you ever even think you will go to 35's then you will regret putting in 4.56's.

5.38's and 35s can do 70 mph all day long. and thats my personal rig. i would do 75-80 for periods of time as well. and thats even lower than 4.88s with 33's
nah, see above.

I don't usually resort to the gear ratio calculator, but that setup you say he had at 60mph should only be running 2357 rpms.

Just cause it wouldn't do over 60 doesnt mean it is because of the gear ratio..lol especially with 488s and 33s..nothing wrong with that..
Sounds like there was a problem elsewhere like ktm said

I regeared to 4.56 when I had 33s and it felt perfect. Then stepped up to 35s and now 36s and seriously regret not going to 4.88's. I would really like to have 5.13's right now actually but that'll be another set of axles.
If I remember right, 60mph with 4.56's and 33's was turning my jeep around 2300 rpm.
4.88 for sure.
