4.5" RC or 3.5" RE

okay guys i got a jeep last weekend and plan on ordering tires then a lift in a week or two, I've researched a lot but cannot really find a definite answer.. This will be my daily driver, but i want it to be capable for whatever i want to do.. Few questions(FULL LEAF KITS) I understand gears, sye, etc will also be required down the road but any help on my current choice would be great, Thanks ahead guys

1: I've heard the RE kit sits around 4-4.5", does it stay this height after settling?

2: Which will fit 33x12.50 tires better with the least amount of trimming, look good and perform good?

3: Which kit has overall better quality, I know it's mainly a matter of opinion but i'll go with majority

4: I know the RE requires shocks and a trac bar but otherwise, which kit will I end up spending less money on down the road on replacement parts

Rubicon is a hundred times better quality than RC. but you'll spend a substantial amount more on RE. if you're gonna do it go big and get the RE 4.5" super flex.
if it comes down to money I'd find a different company altogether RC is the cheapest quality kit out there. you cant even compare it to RE

I agree RE is the way to go... Ive installed many lift kits on xjs, and if your planning on driving both on and offroad on 33's your gonna need 4.5. Go full leaf pack, super-flex, upper arms, with an sye and driveshaft. Save the money and do it right the first time... just my thought.. hope it helps.

If you want RE and that is your Budget you better Piece together a RE lift

I have less than $750 in my RE 3.5" lift I pieced together including 4 Bilstein 5100 shocks

Get the RE kit if thats your budget, i was told they are being made in india now if thats true their kits are going to suck bad. At work we tried to get a few different suppliers there, all parts were so bad the company ended up buying all the equipment to make it here (millions spent) but thats how bad there quailty and metal were.

If you're on a budget consider Rusty's, I have a set of leaf springs made by them that im happy with

Atmos 05-22-2012 08:13 PM

if that's your budget then maybe consider a smaller tire size? I got my RE 4.5 kit for $400 on CL brand new.
also check out naxja.org in your local chapter for sale section. tons of good parts sold locally every day that I wish I had money for!
you can get a quality kit without buying a brand new expensive one.

I just installed Rough Country 4.5" Xseries with CAD brackets.......Won't do it again. PERIOD.

Millermatic 05-23-2012 12:13 PM

Thanks guys, I decided that I'm gonna piece together a 4.5" Superflex kit with full springs and adjustable control arms..where can i get the extra hardware, since one or two breaking is inevitable. I realize home depot or lowes, but is their a kit that has everything i need such as bolts and etc sold by RE?
