4.5" lift by Rough Country
I know it's highly recommended but the budget isn't there for the lift and the SYE. Has anyone installed this kit with the transfer case drop and did you have any problems? I have a 2001 Cherokee Sport and will have to wait a little while longer to save for the SYE....
Thanks,
Jim

Welcome to my boat buddy!
I have the newest version of this lift right now!! I have a 2000' and i have the t-case drop. As of right now I dont run a front driveshaft, because i blow u-joints at the front diff.
I dont have any serious vibes in my rear just the ocasional very very mild vibration under full throttle acceleration.
Great lift though!! Make sure you get the full spring pack!

I installed this lift 2 weeks ago and put the t-case drop in and have no vibrations at all. i put off buying the lift for a longtime because i wasnt sure about being able to afford the sye along with the lift at the same time. but i dont even think im gonna worry about doing a sye on my 97, unless i start running into problems. btw x2 on the full rear pack

Also my XJ is a 2000 so it has a low pinion front diff... so for your 6" inch lift, your front drive angle is probably the same or less than mine!

Well i have 2 degree shims in the back, as thats what the lift comes with... And also when you drop the t-case, it puts it on an angle pointed down towards the rear. There by lifting the front of the t-case and increasing the drive angle for the front driveshaft.

Thanks for the replies, read quite a bit and decided on the full packs. According to the lift 32's are recommended, will 33's fit for street and occasional beach cruising? I was planning on 15x8 soft 8's with 33x12.5x15's if they would fit. Not looking to flex it too much. It's my daily driver that will take me on the beaches for a little surf fishing by the inlets....

Hi everyone I've been looking for some good advice on this subject for a little while now. I just got an 88 Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0, and am considering the RC 4.5" lift kit (complete with springs). I thought I would have to buy extended drive shaft's and the slip yoke elim. I am only planning on running this rig off road. How do I tell if I have hp or lp dif's. if i don't use the slip yoke or get custom driveshafts will this cause me any problems rock cralwing? I'm just starting to build this rig and want to do it the right way from the beginning, but of course not spending more than necessary.
thanks
Jason

Hey, JC........keep one thought in mind......I don't know where you are from or what inlets you want to fish....but pushin those big 33"meats through the sand at the beach (other than the hard-pack down by the water) is gonna put alot of strain on that 4.0...especially if you have stock gears.
I run around hatteras and corolla NC and with 31" tires aired down to 15...in that soft sugar sand....it's a workout for the Heep.
Just my 2 cents....
Scott
