4.5 Lift concerns
I am planning to install a 4.5 lift on my 98 Cherokee Classic. I have been told that running 33/12.50/15s will cause problems with rubbing the control arms at full lock and that the tires are a little too tall and wide to have enough room in the wheel wells. Should I be concerned about this?

If you search CF, there are a lot of members running that setup. A little fender trimming will clear the tires. As for your LCAs, either a rim with more backspacing or wheel spacers will help.

I believe they were the stock wheels that came on the late 80's and early 90's Wrangler Renegades. They are the ones on this Wrangler

you will prolly get some rubbing on the lower control arms then because the backspacing on them is pretty high i believe. you need a wheel with 3.75-4 inch backspacing to make the tire stick out a little more and keep it away from the lower control arms

But you'll be fine with 3.75 bs. That's what I have on 33s and no prob. Going up to 35s soon and should still be good

i have 4.5" with 15x10 rims @ 3.75bs and 33x12.5s but i'm on IRO c/a's. no rubbing on the c/a's at all. i do have to trim alittle more though. i've got some fender rubbing.
also with 4.5" if you are still useing stock c/a's ur ride is gonna be horrid. just sayin.

I think my wheels have 3.75 backspacing. I was also told that the lower control arms from a 99-04 Grand Cherokee will bolt right onto my Cherokee and that they are curved a little so that a larger tire won't rub. Has anyone else heard this or tried it?

Ive heard of it but i dont think its a straight swap, minor mods are required but it is probably limited to opening up the mounts a little.

those are the gambler wheels. i think they are the only wheels that came w/a 30" option for the wranglers. 15x8 w 4.5" bs. they are the closest of the stock jeep wheels for wider tires, but they are still going to rub. especially on 12.50 tires.
sell them and get you some aftermarket wheels w at least 4" or better, 3.75. or install 1" spacers.

I have those same size tires on Crager D Windows (4.0 backspacing) and they rub the lower control arms at full lock. So, I needed wheel spacers
