Default 4.3 chevy swap...possible?

Ok so I have a '96 xj and am looking to swap a whole drivetrain. This is his ad=》

4.3 v6 with and 4l60e tranny and a Dana 300 t case. The t case is geared and twin sticked. The motor runs great and strong. Tons of power for a v6. The tranny is recently rebuilt aka 2 years ago but only like 100 miles on it. The tranny and t case are mounted up with and advanced adapters clocking ring. And the motor AND tranny both run off a painless wiring harness.*

I have little knowledge on motor swaps so.im not sure what will fit. I do know this is coming out of a cj7. Get at me.

It's doable. Heck my buddy just got done putting an older 304 V8 out of his CJ into his wife's 89 XJ. Only ***** part was making headers to fit. If the 4.3 was in a CJ then with some fab work, Skill, and money it can be done.

But and this is a big "but", if you have no knowledge of engine swaps then I would suggest you either pass on this or get your check book out and pay someone big bucks to do the conversion for you.

This will shed some light on the subject: http://www.northwestfab.com/Chevy-43...it_p_1118.html

Amaxing what a simple Google Search can find in 2 seconds.

Why people would go through all the trouble of swapping in a motor and stop at the 4.3 is beyond me. A 350 would bolt right up and take up a little more space, but the aftermarket is ridiculously huge!

If you run a carb the swap would be easier but a carb off road gets tricky.efi would take more work but worth it in the long run. What side is the t case drop on?

The main reason I'm entertaining the idea is availability and price and I'm limited on time. I have to have all this done by December

If its the vortec 4.3 you can always mod it for power,But check the t case see which side the drop is on it.You want a drivers side drop if not you have two options different t case or different front axle.

There's just no point in this swap. It makes no more power, no more torque, isn't any more efficient, isn't any more durable. Simply time and money and effort that results in no gain. If you're gonna do a conversion, do the 5.3, or save some bucks and build a stroker. Or, for the power you're going after with a 4.3, just put another stock 4.0 straight 6 back in it.

i agree. if i were gonna take the time to do the swap it would be a 305/350/or a 5.3l. swaping in another 6 cylinder just seems like too much work for the power gain(if any)

a cheep motor could easily end up being an expensive swap in the end

ultimatly you could swap in any motor you want with the right amount of time and money. if your dead set on a 4.3l go for it. its your jeep and your money

Yeah. I think I'll do a partial rebuild on the 4.o right now to keep it going then do the 5.3 later on. Thanks for you're input guys.
