Default 4.10 gears??

ok i have a 1990 cherokee with an auto and 31's for right now and im going to go to 33's in a little bit
ok i got a carrier with ring and pinion from the jy out of a cherokee with w 4cyl auto with the same d 30/35 axles i was wondering if i can just take those ring, pinion and carriers and bolt it all up in place of my 3.55's when i go to 33's and have no problems with the gears? just put the pinion in and the 4 bolts in\??

Idk what kind of mechinac knowlegde you got but some things to consider is to check the wear pattern on the ring gear that you are thinking of installing. Also when installing you need to make sure you set it to the proper backlash and if your replacing the pinion you need to be careful with the collapisble spacer if you pinion preload is set too much the pinion will not be able to move and you will have to start over. While you have everyithing out might as well replace all the bearings better to do now then later. But really for the rear end I would consider getting rid of the dana 35 all together and get a chrysler 8.25 or if you can get one a dana 44. both are a direct bolt in swap. I maybe missing something but I'm others will join in. Hope this helps a bit.

if you have set up rear gears b4 i would say go for it if not take them to a speed shop and have them install them for you this is not something you take to the local repair shop.it can be done with the 410parts from the donor xj i did mine about 4months ago no probs but this is not my first setup

X2 While you are doing it get a Chrysler 8.25 or a Cherokee Dana 44 rear axle. Dana 35 is a very poor axle to modify. ( It is just to weak of an axle to spend time or money on. )

i would say it would be a good chance that if you saved the order of the pinon shims and replaced crush sleaves you might be fine.
check the pinion load after crushing for 8-14 inch pounds torch .
if thats good then drop in the carrier and check the backlash for .005 to .008 if its over that shim the out side of the carrier bearing till its with in.
if its under you well have to remove the carrier bearings and re shim.
good luck
