Default 1 ton steering angles. Slight bump steer probs

Need some help on my steering angles. I've got a little bump steer and veering goin on on the highway and I think it's due to track bar and drag link being slightly different. Would lifting the Jeep another inch help like it looks like? Upgrading to 5.5" coils shortly anyways and don't want it to get worse if nothin else.

That's not 1 Ton Steering.
1 Ton Steering uses GM 1 Ton TRE's.

Your draglink and trackbar aren't parallel.

The lower line is a best guess because the actual mounting bolt cannot be see in your pic.

Then what exactly would you call it? I was told it was considering the hiems and solid 1.5" link and tie rod.

The last XJ I built had teraflex 1 ton tres and I'd think this would be considered more HD.

Now that you've told me what it's not can you offer some advise on how to correct the angles minus cutting of brackets?

It's just a heim steering kit.
The easiest fix is to get a frame side trackbar bracket that lowers the trackbar.

I concur with Serious.

I feel your pain, it seems that you can't just buy the "matching" track bar/drag link kits for a specific height. There is often (and costly) trial and error.

I am near the max capability of the stock system at 4.5"

I have a RC track bar with drop bracket and will be upgrading steering set-up when I can either A: Be guaranteed it will fix the bump steering issue or B: Have enough extra money to not worry if the $300 plus upgrade did not do what I thought it would do.

Frank, what did you use to draw those yellow lines? I have a Mac and need to find something to do the same to my XJ.

any chance it's an improperly installed OTK kit? that would bring the trackbar and draglink nearly inline with each other...
the two bends on the dragbar and tierod also make me feel something is amiss

It all lines up and clears fine. Other than possibly contacting the sway bar bracket but not sure just yet.

The track bar is bds and the bracket is stock. I just assumed it was an aftermarket bracket.

So now to upgrade the bracket and bar and that should fix it.

Size: 51.9 KBtheres the knuckle mount. Drag link is mounted a bit higher than stock but track bar is in stock location. Flex test may yield some issues after inspecting it closely. Just bought the Jeep so fine tuning is a must. Obviously. Haha

You really need to add a couple hardened washers (larger than the heim) in case the joint fails. Right now there's nothing to keep the drag link or tie-rod in place if you suffer a joint failure.

Use a thick grade 8 washer....'bout $.98 at your local Ace Hardware.
