Default 34" Tires...

I've got room for bigger tires (currently 33's measuring 32.6)
But I don't trust my locked D30 to handle a 35's or want to give up that little bit of extra flex to a tire that would measure 34.6"

So I'd like a tire that will actually measure out between 33.5 & 34...

I'd like to run Interco Truxus:
34x12.50x15 but they only have a 2ply side wall. Why?

Their 34x12.50x16's are listed as a 3ply but I figure with the added weight of a 16" rim it wouldn't be any different than running a 35.

YES, I know I'm pushing some numbers out that when aired down changes everything, but I'm going by the weight of the tire and wheel speed as what is going to cause a breakage.

This just seems like a better option than dropping money on a D44 front just to go up to 36's max.. Or a D60 and be dragging the pumpkin on everything.

My Jeep has 5" Lift, Cut Fenders & ProComp M/T's 33x12.50xR15

So you're not going wider, only slightly taller... is 1/2 inch of clearence under the axle really going to make or break you? If you can get a good deal on 34's, I'd say give it a shot, otherwise stick with 33 until you really want to up-size and go with a stronger axle in the future.

Yes, I don't care if I go wider, would like something between 12&13.5. As for the extra .5"... Yes, it's is a big deal, you only get .5" to 1" from most mods... Including going from 33's to 35's

No, I'm saving that for when I find something I'd actually need them for...

There are lots of us running 35's on a Dana 30 front axle that is locked without issue. If youre worried put aftermarket axles in it. I run 35x13.50 on mine and wheel it hard without issue.

I've been running 34x10.5 LTB's on mine for 3 years or so. I snapped my 1st ujoint on New Year's day when I was climbing an icy hill at full throttle and it grabbed traction on bare granite. Actually the stub shaft exploded. I don't blame it, that was a lot of wheel spin. I would suggest trussing the D30 if you haven't already. Mine is locked too, BTW.

Well after lots of research and talking with manufactures. It sounds like I might be riding on some 35" BFG KM2's, Most people have found that the are actually only a 33.5" to 34" Tire

Any one have thoughts?

i would upgrade your front shafts from the 260 joint size to the later xj/tj 297 shafts. then lock and load. just watch for your wheel hop. wheel hop snaps even larger shafts.

be somewhat easy on them and you will be fine.

well, you should be fine then.

plus, if you go BFGs, they're the lightest 35 on the market...

I noticed that, 35's KM2 were 10lbs lighter than the 34" Truxus I was looking at.

You will be fine on 35s. Just don't drive it like you're on 1 tons and remember to keep the tires straight as much as possible. Avoid using momentum, let the lockers do their job and keep wheel spin to a minimum.

X2 man. I run 35s on stock shafts and let 4lo and first gear do all the work. Full circle clips on the u-joints too, don't think that has been mentioned yet.
