30x9.50's vs 31x10.50's
I have a 3.5" lift and am unsure whether to get 30's or 31's. I sold my pair of 31's. The majority of my driving is on-road and would like to save gas with the 30's, my only concern is that they will look awkwardly small on the jeep.. Which is better for me??

Looking for:

- Gas Mileage
- Power/Acceleration

Okay I think I'll go that route then. Will 31's fit on stock rims though? I thought they wouldn't and I won't be able to afford rims for a while.. I was thinking about getting the general grabber at2 because they have a 29.7" diameter where normal "30's" are only 29.3" and 31's are 30.5".. Thoughts?

You CAN put a 15" wide tire on a 7" (stock) rim. Not that it's the best idea.. I wouldn't get anything more that a 15x8 unless your running a 10.50 tire. A 235/75 is like 9.00-9.50 I think, so a 10" rim would be to wide. And get the 31's over the 30's it will net you slightly better results on the trail. It's up to you if you want a 9.50 or 10.00 width. But either way stock rims will work. You can also regear, but it's not the cheapest upgrade and for 31's you really don't need to.

Having had BOTH at the same time. I can tell you performance, MPG and ride wise there is no real difference between 30 and 31 tires. 30" is just a little cheaper.

I'm pretty sure 31x10.5 tires on factory rims will rub on the control arms under full lock.
If it was my jeep i would go with the 31x10.5 in bfg ATs or km2s on cheap steel whells from summit with proper backspacing, btw BFG is running a $50 mail in rebate right now.

I am only looking to run the stock rims temporarily until I get new rims at christmas time. I don't do too much turning at full lock but then again I don't want to tear apart my brand new tires either!

With a stock wheel whether 7" or 8", you might need to adjust the steering stops about 1/16-1/8" to keep the tires from rubbing On the lower control arms. 7" rim OK for a 31" tire, might slip the bead if you air down below 20#.
