Default 3"-4" Suspension lift kit suggestions?

Hey guys, I recently bought a 96 cherokee classic and I'm currently trying to figure out what kind/what brand of lift kit I should buy. Everything is stock on my jeep, and i am looking for something that will make my jeep have more of an aggressive stance and enable me to do some occasional off-roading while keeping it my daily driver. From my research, I know I want a 3-4 inch lift and I want to stay away from long arm kits because I understand they can make the ride sketchy at high speeds and i'll be driving on the highway. Right now, I have about $500 to spend on a kit but, I am willing to wait until I have more funds available if the right kit costs more. I don't want to go the cheap route and end up spending more in a year. I'm looking for the most bang for my buck.
I found this Trailblazer kit through Rocky Road Outfitters that provides a 4" lift, costs $914 (with shipping) and includes:

http://www.rocky-road.com/xjsus.html
Old Man Emu replacement rear leaf springs.
Old Man Emu replacement front coils.
Long Travel shocks.
Polyurethane coil spacers.
Heavy Duty rear shackles.
1/2" Mini-blocks for the rear to level the vehicle out.
Adj Track Bar.
Transfer case drop.
Bushings.
Rear Brake Line.

I don't know if this ^ kit is overkill or not, but Rocky Road also has a 3" "budget lift" that comes with 1.5" rear lift shackle, 1.5" lift blocks, 4 new shocks and a 3" coil spacer for $327 (with shipping).

Jeeperzcreeperz.com has a 4.5" lift kit for about $500 that includes:
http://www.jeeperz-creeperz.com/Jeep...spension-Kits/
front coil springs,
front lower control arms,
transfer case drop kit,
front sway bar links,
brake line relocating brackets,
rear add-a-leafs and shackles,
and 4 rough country n2.o Shocks.

Morris 4x4's options:
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-li...ndex.htm#3inch

Rough Country's options:
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_...lift_kits.html

I also plan on buying 30's or 31's.

Any thoughts, alternatives, suggestions, and past experiences would be great, thanks!

If you purchase a full kit, I recommend the OME/DPGoffroad hybrid kit. Otherwise, piecing together a lift will be cheaper most likely for you.

X2

I agree 100% on the OME/DPG Hybrid should be the only full kit to buy

FWIW I pieced together a RE 3.5" lift with full leafs, extended brakelines, RE Adj tracbar, and Bilstein 5100 shocks for Just under $700

Might want to consider Zone.

i have also heard that long arm kits ride strangely on the highway, so i avoided them too. but then i heard they rode better on the highway... anyways, something to think about.

i have a rough country 3" lift and it rides kind of rough, but it's a decent cheap lift. If I was looking for a good, comfortable short arm lift I'd go OME.

For the OP,
Take a look at the RE kits on my site. Free shipping on all RE lift kits.

Long arms ride great on and off road.

It might be time for you to invest in some new, quality shocks.

Think skateboard - that's kind of the effect of long arms...
