3.4 motors? Which will work when I swap out my 2.8?
Ok, ive been researching quite a bit into swapping my 2.8 v6 for a 3.4 v6 and I seem to have all the info to do it, but i havent seen one thing on which 3.4's work best. I know that gm put out alot of 3.4's in a bunch of cars they produced. So i guess my question for anyone to answer is; Which donor vehicle should I pull my motor from?
Yea ive heard camaro, firebird and some grand ams or gran prix's.. I dont really know which would be the best though. I want to get as much power as i can out of whatever engine im gonna use. Also; i plan to stick with a carb and upgrade it to a holley or demon offroad one. Ive read how to fuel inject it, but i dont feel like having to mess with the gas tank and all that wiring nonsense. I actually drive an 86 Comanche and this is what im doing the swap to.
Use a rwd. And use the efi off of it. Use a 4.0 fuel sender to get pressure. The wiring to go fuel injected is actually very easy. I replaced mine with a buick 3800...not for the faint of heart.

No. mine is a series 2 out of a 96 camaro. Using a4x4 t5 with world class t5 guts, and with the shifter coming up in the right spot, the throttle body for the eaton m90 super charger would be IN the firewall.
You can Not use an ax5 behind a 3800 sII...unless you like dropping a new trans in every thousand miles.
The 3800 swap requires custom motor mounts, headers, y pipe, swapping to a 4.0 open system radiator, core support, crossmember, and hood. And custom intake and wiring. And frame modification on the passenger side.

Im not really worried about the 3800 swap, maybe later.. But the 3.4 is pretty straight forward from what i see, right? Use a rwd donor and im gonna carb it because i like carbs so it should be pretty simple. Should i change the trans and stuff, or would it be fine stock?

Awesome! Will that motorcraft carb bolt to the stock 3.4 intake? Im debating whether or not to get a aftermarket intake or not. If i did that id want to get some headers and im not sure how the clearance would be.

the 3.4 intake will be for FUEL INJECTION. you will need to buy an edelbrock 2bbl intake manifold, as the jeep one uses a non-typical carb "mount" therefor the motorcraft one you're talking about won't work.
the carb being recommended is still junk, compared to most. and that edelbrock manifold is about $300.
point being...no 2.8/3.4 is worth investing $100 much less more, especially into carb related parts.
