2x6 rock rails
I got some 2x6 Metal that’s 1/4 thick and hooligan offroad bracing to make rock rails cutting out the factory rocker. My question is, is 1/4 thick material to thick and heavy?

I think usually it’s 3/16 but 1/4 should be better. That is one of my future mods so please take plenty of pics or better yet do a video.

you will need a piece of 1/8" between the 2x6 and sheet metal to get a good weld, you'll be blowing holes into the sheet metal and not burning into the 1/4" without it.

Does anyone have a pic of what it looks like when done? I am wanting to do this but it seems like the 2x6 would stick out too far.

I used 2x4" and 1 1/2" angle between the inner rocker and the tube. I taper cut the angle from 1 1/2" at the back to 3/4" at the front to match the body taper. I used 2x2" tube on top of the 2x4" tube for more support and plug welded through the top of the kick panel.
