2wd to 4wd
lookin to get a new jeep, found one for a good price, however its 2wd.
The 2wd jeep is a 1996
and the 4wd that i am going to use is from my 1991
so my questions is how hard is it todo, whats required
and is it even possible

It's as easy as unboltin everything and putting the other stuff in. The only thing is the 4x4 shift lever you gotta drill holes for the mount that goes in the body.

You don't have to drill anything. The holes are there. Their is a dummy plate where the lever is supposed to go. 100% bolt on mod. Did it to my 96 2wd

I have a question if i convert my 2wd to 4wd is it better to just get the new tranny with the transfercase bolted togather or can i just change the tail shaft housing and bolt a transfercase on

you'll prolly ruin your carpet getting to the 4x4 shift lever location, but who doesn't rip all that out in an muddin xj anyways? haha. I have all my interior out, plan on wirebrushing and rhino lining or something similar in spring.
