Tucks up higher than the 242 and just a tad lower than the 231. I also got lucky and the speed sensor directly plugged in. I think if you have the 242 from the factory then that would be the case for you too, but I'm not 100%. Mine is a 99 limited for what it's worth.

Here's links for the parts needed to get the 4WD light to work. This appears to be the exact same stuff that JB Conversions sells, but for a grand total of $30 vs $100

Dorman 600-506 4-Wheel Drive Switch
Amazon Amazon

ACDelco PT724 GM Original Equipment 2-Way Male Gray Multi-Purpose Pigtail
Amazon Amazon

Shift linkage - novak makes a kit for the swap. I'm modifying a boostwerks 242 linkage to work

Then of course you just need to figure out what yokes to run. Also you'll have to trim a very small square out of the exhaust hanger to clear one of the bolts on the case.

As for being too low, I haven't hit the road with mine yet so I can't answer that and too low of gearing is rather subjective BUT if rock crawling is the goal here I really can't see anyone thinking that's the case.

If you want a rock crawler then the gearing is great,If your not in to rock crawling then you won't like the gearing in it.

Honestly I don't remember the exact price, but not that high and mine was super clean. I actually have 2 at the moment and was considering selling one of them. Would probably do it for hundreds cheaper than that including shipping. If interested shoot me a PM.

trails i run do have some rock crawl sections and i often wish i had a lower crawl speed, and w/ at trans it would be nice on the steep down hills maybe not have to ride the brakes. my current setup gives me a max low ratio of 34.1 w/ the 241 it will drop to 50.1 , second gear will change from 18.1 to 27.1 , lots of time offroad the 34.1 is too slow & the 18.1 is too fast. 27.1 might be the sweet spot ? w/ leaving me a extra low when needed.

Srb - what tire size and gear ratio are you running? If you have stock gears and big tires, a gear swap would be a better overall choice IMO.

Another option look in to a dana 300,It can be twin sticked you can get 4 to 1 gear sets and they even make flip kits in case its the wrong side drop,And the flip kit will let you clock it how ever you want it.
