2003 Jeep Libertty (KJ) rear disc brake swap
I just completed a rear disc brake swap on a 97 XJ using a 03 KJ (Liberty) as the donor vehicle for the rear brake backing plates, calipers, rotors. We also replaced the rear wheel bearings and seals at this time. The swap was pretty straight forward. We ended up running new hard brake lines on the rear axle and front brake hoses from a Liberty for the rear brake calipers. You will also need the 2003KJ center rear brake hose for this swap.

Let us know how big a diff. the swap makes been thinking about doing the same but the thought of getting C clips back out after spartan locker install scares me just a bit if a big diff. then may try it

We just did it as a want to. My friend had blown the left rear wheel cylinder and after a little research decided to go forward with the rear disc brake swap. As far as increased braking performance goes. With the normal operating limits of a XJ I think 4 wheel disc brakes could be considered overkill. Maintenance wise they are easier to service and just add a little cool factor to the XJ. Hope this helps

I agree that is why I was thinking of doing it was simple brake pad change after swap and if there is a little improvement in braking that will make it easy to try and get the C clip back out of spartan locker I think that will be a chore in it self!
