Default 2001 Roof Rack

The XJ is a 2001. On the roof rack can you remove the cross rails without removing the side rails?

Thanks

Yes. You have to unbolt the end of the side rails at the back, pull the end cap off and then slide the cross rails off. When you pull the end cap off, you will break off a plastic tab that is part of the cap. Don't worry about that--it will still go back in place just fine and will be tight when you bolt the rail back down. It helps to loosen the second bolt from the end of the rail as well, but you don't need to remove that one.
