2001 motor in 96
i picked up motor and trans out of a 2001 to put in my 96. I have every wire and the computer with the 2001 also. (engine harness to the tail lights)
Can i just drop it in and swap over the computer or do i have to put the distributer off my 96 on it? or what else do i have to do to make the 2001 motor work.
thanks

You can upgrade to the 2001 computers but then you would have to swap over the 2001 gauge cluster. The simplest method to swap motors is drop in the 01 block and head and use all the accessories from the 96. 2001 XJ's have the head that is prone to cracking when overheated.
