Default 2000 xj steering mod help

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 4.0L 4X4 2000 CHEROKEE SPORT(BONE STOCK) FOR $3000. WITH 112000 MILES., BUT NOW HAVE ADDED A 3" LIFT, 31X10.5X15 WHEELS. EVEN BEFORE THE LIFT, IT STEERED ALL OVER THE PLACE, AND SHAKES REALLY BAD , TONS OF PLAY IN THE STEERING BOX, TONS! ...OF COURSE NOW ITS WORSE. MY NEXT THING IS TO BUY A 99 DURANGO BOX, A ZJ PITMAN ARM, AND A C-ROK FRAME KIT....EVEN THOUGH THE FRAME IS STILL IN GREAT SHAPE (CHEAP INSURANCE SINCE THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE). MY QUESTION IS ...WHAT YEAR ZJ PITMAN ARM WILL FIT THE 99 DURANGO BOX? AND, AM I DOING THE RIGHT THING ? IM TOTALLY NEW TO THE JEEP-THING, BUT I LOVE MY JEEP. ANY HELP FROM YOU JEEP-GODS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

First thing's first.....why are you going to a ZJ pitman arm? The only difference is it's 1" drop over the stock XJ arm. I highly doubt with a 3" lift that you need a pitman arm drop, unless you also dropped your frame side trackbar mount??

I would pull the steering box bolts and check your spacer. Then I would start looking at your TRE's on the tie rod and drag link.

It looked like the linkage going to the pitman was maxed out on some drastic angle , thats where i figured another 1" would only help. Ill try the tres and get back, thanks for the reply, i can use any help i can get.

If you had the same symptoms before your lift, the lift wasn't the cause, it just magnified them.

Start by checking all your steer linkage and TRE's, control arm bushings, draglink bushings and ball joints.
something else is causing the issue, fix it before you waste your $ on parts you don't need.

Besides you shouldn't need a drop pitman at 3" anyway...

x2 on probs not needing a drop pitman at that hight. id inspect the crap out of the entire front end before blowin $$ on stuff , could just be a bummed TRE somewhere. the durango box is a good upgrade( im about to do it to mine) but thats an upgrade , id focus on finding the problem first . just my two cents
