Default 2" RE AAL/Spacer sits unlevel

Hi all,

First post here... I've searched for my answer, but didn't find anything on it so please point me in the right direction if my issue already exists on the forum. Yesterday I installed the RE6160 with the AAL and front spacer on my 2000 XJ. Since I had it torn apart, I installed new OEM leaf packs (standard, not HD) with the AAL and new OEM coil springs with the spacer. Now, the rear sits 2-3" higher than the front and it looks terrible. I was hoping for a level stance. Any ideas as to what I did wrong, if anything? Do the leafs just need to settle in? Thanks for any help ahead of time.

Yup! Your leafs will settle down in time. It does not take all that long either. I would double check the part number on the rear leaf pack but It should sit level in a few months. Can always throw some weight back there if you want to speed it up.

It wont settle that much... same crap happened to me with my Rustys kit.. I used an 1" poly spacer up front to level it out. Its trial and error... no kit works perfect it seems since every jeep is different.

Mine was off about 3" in the rear. leveled out after a few months. I'm not sure if a new OEM pack comes with an arch like that but every other pack Ive ever put on always needs some settling. Certainly if it does not, spacers are cheap

Double check the length of the old and new leaf with a piece of string (laying them next to each other doesn't work because of the arch: and the new is already installed ). Hopefully they will be very close to the same size... If they are, throw a couple hundred pounds in the rear for a month or two. As others have indicated, they will settle down. If they are not the same length... That's a bigger issue.

Thanks guys. I threw some weight in the back and I'll give it a few weeks to see what happens. Otherwise, I'll be getting some spacers.

Would extended coil springs be better than spacers? Like, maybe, springs from a 3" kit?

Yes but if you get those and the rear springs do settle, then youll have some bad rake

Drive around with the weight in the back for a few weeks, let it settle then go from there.
