Default 2” lift

Hey I’m looking to lift my Cherokee like 2 inches, it’s got new heavy duty leafs in the back and I still have the old leaf springs. My goal is to use one of the old springs and basically add a leaf. My question is, in you’re guy’s experience, would this give me the 2”? Also would certain springs give me more lift and which one of the old ones should I add? Or is that for some reason a bad idea altogether? Any advice would be appreciated. On a side note, are there any other modifications I would have to make for the lift to work? (I.e. longer brake lines, control arms, anything with the steering). Thanks in advance fellas.

No idea which leaf to use..may have to be trial and error. Whag are you going to do to lift the front?

maybe just longer springs. Or I might go cheap and get spacers. Haven’t decided yet. I’d rather do springs though.

There are many lift kit solutions for the 1999 Cherokee including the add-a-leaf on the back and spacers or longer shocks on the front. Check them out on the following page https://www.carid.com/1999-jeep-cherokee-lift-kits/
With one of the complete lift kits you don't have to fabricate anything, they've been tested and approved already.

I think Rusty's has 2 inch springs. If your add a leaf doesn't work maybe some shackle relocation boxes would give you the added height and a little better flexing.

yeah sure if carid wants to hook me up with free stuff that sounds great. Otherwise I’ll stick with my original plan of using what I already have for the rear that’s the whole idea here.

yeah I saw those, I was hoping to use what I already have but if I can’t then that was my backup. Thanks.

Weren't you having the problem of your shackle hitting the box? You could just get some longer boomerang shackles, solving both problems.

I'd measure your ride height, a lot of "heavy duty" springs from what I've heard net almost 2" over stock height lift. There are many threads on xj-xj bastard packs. That's the closest you'll get to heavy duty xj- stock xj bastard pack. If it were me, I would buy boomerang lift shackles since they will improve the flex. The best combo would be shackle relocation boxes and lift shackles.

definitely considering this. Any recommendations? I have no experience withd these kinds of shackles or how they are different than stock brackets.

They're just bent so that when they flex up they don't contact as soon. Name: photo239.jpg

Size: 253.0 KB picture to show how they work, not my jeep though. -photo765.jpg these are the shackles I plan to get. Boostwerks shackles have a flex joint to relieve leaf spring stress. Any boomerang shackle will work basically the same though.

I forgot to post what I ended up doing over a month ago now, but anyway since I was having problems with my shackles I just replaced them with iron rock off-road shackles. This gave me an inch and a half of lift in the rear and seeing as I already had heavy duty leafs it was sitting at at least two inches higher in the back which was perfect so I got some 2” spacers for the coils in the front and that’s all I ended up doing, that’s 100 bucks (roughly) for 2 inches of lift. pretty cheap if you ask me. Anyway thanks for the suggestions, I recommend this setup if you’re considering a similar lift.
