2.5-4.0 swap

I've got an 88 mj with a 2.5 and 5-speed trans. Its just a 2wd but my question is will a 4.0 from a 91 bolt up to the trans? The 2.5 is shot and I've got a 91 2wd auto xj and want to swap the 4.0 into the mj.

I wouldnt bolt a 4.0 to the tranny of a 2.5. Even if it does bolt up, the ax5 (behind the 2.5) wont last long behind the 4.0. Look for an ax15. Its what comes stock with the 6 cylinders and it will hold up to the abuse the 4.0 gives it.
