Default 1999XJ 4.5L w/ 68-200-4 swap into distributor less 2000xj Help

I've just purchased a 2000 xj with a bad motor that I'd like to swap all my parts from my 1999 on. I've got a 4.5L stroker in my 1999 that runs great.

My question is on the cam. I'm running comps 68-200-4 grind. It runs great in the 1999 but my 1999 has a distributor where the 2000 doesn't.

I really don't want to swap in another cam as I am very pleased with what I have. To make this cam work I had to index the distibutor a little bit in my 1999.

With the 2000 distributor less ignition, can I just index the cam sensor to run my cam?

Other option is to swap over all the 1999 stuff to the 2000. PCM and wiring harness, but I can't find info of all that's required to swap. Like the TCU , BCM or whatever. There is just no info on this swap. I'm not opposed to either just can't find the info I need. Only thing I'm opposed to is swapping out my 252 grind. The specs are really similar to the stock CAM.

I would rather do all that work than swap a cam on a motor that runs great. There is no info on this swap anywhere that I've checked. I have a list on JeepStrokers.com and not one answer there so I'm looking for any info I can.

I'll probably end up trying to run the 2000 distributorless ignition first by indexing the cam sensor and if that didn't work I'd swap the wiring harness and ECU. Then just start swapping what I can next but I don't know if the 1999 trans connections are the same as the 2000 or not.

Thanks in advance for your time and help, any info is appreciated.

The distributorless should work fine.

What about the fact the head ports are different?

The issue is that cam is aftermarket not the fact its a stroker and is commonly know to not run on the 2000+ distributorless ignition system.

I planned to use the newer style exhaust manifold as it's a cast manifold not a steel header.

I read on jeep strokers that the cam wouldn't work due to the valve opening and closing timing with the aftermarket cam.
In thought if I could index the cam sensor that might get it to work. Otherwise I'd have to change over the jeep to the 1999 ignition and computers

Quote from that link

We ran into a glitch with the later coil-on-plug 4.0L engines and this camshaft, the first issue ever with the CompCams 252 grind. Apparently, the PCM and engine fuel and spark management will not support this camshaft in the 4.0L or stroker versions

The cam specs are very similar to the stick cam only having slightly more lift and differ tlobe separation angle. Otherwise cam specs very similar to stock.

I think you've got your answer. Those guys are not "keyboard mechanics".

Obviously have some great experience to share.

Definitely don't have answer yet. I already knew my cam wouldn't work. I'm trying to figure out if indexing the cam sensor would fix issue and if not what's involved in swapping to the 99 setup and what little info I can find it seems like swapping to the 1999 distibutor setup would be best bet but no info on what i would have to change beside the obvious wiring harness and ECU.
