1998 xj 350 swap

hello all. I am really close to putting a 350 in my 98 xj with the 4.0 and a automatic AW-4 trans. im wanting to keep the trans if I can. are there any adaptors that go from a 350 gen 1 to a AW-4. also motor mounts. advanced adaptors maybe? couldn't really find much on there website for a AW-4 transmission. thanks guys

What I can tell you is that neither Novak or Advance make an AW4 adapter. Novak does, however, make an AX-15 adapter. Why do you want to keep the transmission so bad?

I don't necessarily need to keep it I was just looking for the quickest easiest way....if there is an easy way to put a 350 in a xj

you will have to keep the trans that goes with the 350 and adapt the jeep transfer case to the chevy trans.

Chevy 4L60E or 700r4 mated to a Chevy NP231. Do some Google research. Lots of build threads out there.

Empty the 88-98 chevy truck np241 is stronger and a driver side drop and bolts right on a 4l60e.But i will give you a heads up unless its a mud bog jeep a carb and off road don't mix well. Its best to have efi even a throttle body injection is better off road.

Carbs aren't bad offroad if you have them setup right. I've had my Jeep at some crazy angles with no problems. I went from a bastardized 2se carb on the 2.8L to a Holley Truck Avenger on the 3.4L, which is designed out of the box for offroad use.

You can go propane or propane/carb hybrid. "Poor man's fuel injection".

See the can of worms you can open once you start modifying stuff.

I wouldn't want a 4L60E. those transmissions are complete garbage. Much better off with a 4L80 or even a turbo 400

A stock rebuilt turbo 400 will pretty much be bullet proof up to 500 hp.. with a few hundred bucks more .. you can make it handle anything and everything you will ever throw at it.. you will twist axles before you destroy a turbo 400 that is built to handle it..

If its a off road toy a turbo 400 is best,If you need a overdrive the 4l60e can be built up to handle some insane power.A 4l80e won't fit the stock trans tunnel in the xj with out some cutting and beating.

What cfm carb do you have tho ?Last holley truck carb i had problems with but was a mix of our crappy fuel and me having a beater truck and drove it like one.I did end up replacing it with a motorcraft i had laying around it and it ran better tell it threw a rod on me.
