1991 Jeep Cherokee shocks, HELP!!
Good afternoon, I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. I have a 4- 4.5 in lift in the front with Pro Comp 326515 shocks. In the rear, the shocks did not have a part number, so I took one off and measured it. 15.5 in compressed and 26 in extended. I plan on switching all 4 to Bilstein shocks. The front would be part number 24-188197 which is fine and fits a 4-4.5 in lift. But the rear, on the web site with my measurements would be a rear lift of 5-6 inches. Part number 33-151663. The front finders are cut but this doesn’t make any sense to me.. why would the rear be higher and what happens if the back shocks are too long? All help appreciated!

I don't understand why most people seem to be purchasing shocks based on lift and not there personal rigs needs for shock travel. take the time to "flex out" your Cherokee and measure the shock length at the wheels a that are stuffed into there wheel wells. That will give you your max compressed lengths. I personally try to find the longest shocks I can that wont bottom out. does this make sense or am I crazy? All I know is I needed a totally different shock setup from being on a 3" lift with 31's and stock flares to a 4" lift with cut fenders and 33's to take full advantage of droop.
