Save your money, you'll never realize the benefit of a different cam profile if everything else remains the same.

putting a cam on a 89xj motor, if its original and never been messed with id be scared that as soon as u pulled the cam that the cam bearings will fall out. that is the reason why i haven't done it to mine. what are you looking to gain? do roller rockers if anything. i have a borla long tube that i will be adding soon. i already have a cowl air intake with ported throttle body and 19lbs 4 spray injectors and with 2 1/4 cat back exhaust and long the performance. roller rockers from what i read will help a little. thats just my opinion other people might not think its good but it works for me good luck hope this helps.

Do more research. Educate yourself on what cams do and how they affect an engine. Also research supporting mods.

lots of other mods will give you perf gains. since you've got it apart, you might as well putt a peppier cam in and build the motor around it. '99 intake manifold, high flow intake filter and intake, bigger exhaust at a minimum. injectors, ported throttle body and head work would also be on the list. roller rockers of the same dimension wouldn't change anything either; maybe cut some internal rotating resistance. Negligible gains.

doing the cam alone will not get you anything. stock cam works fine for stock motors.
