Default 180 vs 195

I'm going to replace my old thermostat, and I know it calls for a 195... would there be any issues if a 180 was installed instead?

All I heard that your engine will just have a hell of a hard time keeping at 180. But then again that's just what I heard

I only use the 52028186 from the dealer any more. 195 is the way to go.

the motor is intended to run at approx 205-210 degrees. Thus the 195stat. A 180 stat, may not allow the motor to get warm enough for proper operation....

A lot of people run 180s. I have absolutely no idea why. They report the engine runs fine but I really don't see the point - it's designed for 195. Lowering the temp that the thermostat opens has no impact on how effective your cooling system is at removing heat.

Guaranteed performance from the Mopar part, as usual.

Whatever you buy make sure to test it in a pot of water on the stove first. Verify the water temp with a thermometer and watch the thermostat open and close.

As the rest have said, run it at 195.
