Default 1" more lift in rear?

Hi all,
G'day from Down under.

I have a question. I need 1" more lift in the rear, and have a "bastard pack" that is pretty stiff, from adding the load leaf from a Ford ute. (pickup)

For 1", is it easier to add 1" blocks, or shackles? Which would be cheaper? Which would effect ride quality more?

I have a 2" lift in rear at the moment, and need another inch to run 31's (which technically isn't legal here, so let's just say i want to be able to put them on to go offroad. )

Thanks,
Puk

Shackles are the better option. There not too expensive and they should improve your ride quality.

Whats illegal? 31in tires? Most Suv's and pickup trucks have larger tires.

Another vote for shackles. They'll also allow your existing leafs to flex better as there will be more leeway for them to stretch when compressed.

Is it just that you're not supposed to change the tire size from OEM?

Shackles or shackle relocation brackets. The brackets will cost more but will give you some lift and more adjustment.

Shackles for sure. I just installed one inch greasable shackles yesterday. Very happy with the results. All I needed was an inch. Worked perfect.

Yeah, I know, bu tin my state the regs have been that you are not allowed to go more than 15mm (3/5 of an inch) bigger tyres in profle than OEM.

I think it has just changed to 2 inches bigger in profile, which means that 31's are borderline. (and it has been no more than a 2" lift).

But compared to some of the lifts on the Land Cruisers and hilux's around here, 3" on a cherokee is easy not to notice.

Now let me get this straight, to get a 1" lift with a shackle, i need one that is 2" longer, right?
